NZ Music T-Shirt Day
Friday, 3rd May 2024
Do you love New Zealand music? Do you care about the people who make it and the at-risk and vulnerable in our communities? Then be a part of #NZMusicTShirtDay!
NZ Music T-Shirt Day takes place in May 2024 as part of NZ Music Month. It's about celebrating great New Zealand music and showing your support by sporting your favourite band tee. It's all about fun, but also has a really important purpose in raising funds for MusicHelps.
MusicHelps support hundreds of projects across Aotearoa, each using the power of music to change the lives of thousands in need. This includes music therapy, music programs in respite and palliative care, music education programs (particularly in low decile environments), music programs in prisons and rehabilitation and music in aged care to name but a few initiatives they support.
MusicHelps also provides emergency assistance to thousands of music people experiencing hardship and illness through their suite of music support services.
Whether you're an artist, music worker or music lover, get involved, make a donation, then post and share your best band t-shirt pics using the hashtags #NZMusicTShirtDay and @musichelpsnz. Create a Team and get your workplace, school and friends involved! Share the love on your social networks and your followers will be able to donate to your team and earn you a place on the Honour Roll!
Don’t have a t-shirt? Now is the perfect time to add to your wardrobe. Take a look at this list of places where you can find fantastic threads and merch from your favourite New Zealand artists.
Better yet, hit up the merch stand at the next gig you attend and get yourself kitted out - it's another great way to help support your favourite local acts! Contact MusicHelps if you have questions or would like tips on how to get your workplace or social networks involved at [email protected].
About MusicHelps
MusicHelps is a unique charity that uses the power of music to help and heal in Aotearoa. We develop and support projects in the community that use music to support the most vulnerable in our communities. This includes music therapy in schools, hospices and hospitals, music projects that help disabled people and music-based interventions that help at-risk New Zealanders. In doing this we have had an impact on over 70,000 people across Aotearoa. We also provide free professional counselling and emergency financial and wellbeing support to New Zealand music workers. By joining with NZ Music T-Shirt Day, you will be making a real difference to New Zealand music workers and to vulnerable people in our communities across the country.
